pipe schedule

A sizing system of numbers that specifies the inside diameter (ID) and outside diameter (OD) for each diameter pipe. The schedule number is the ratio of internal pressure in psi divided by the allowable fiber stress multiplied by 1,000. Typical schedules of iron and steel pipe are Schedules 40, 80, and 160. Other forms of piping are divided into various classes with their own schedule schemes.
