flocculation (flock-yoo-LAY-shun)
The gathering together of fine particles after coagulation to form larger particles by a process of gentle mixing. This clumping together makes it easier to separate the solids from the water by settling, skimming, draining, or filtering.
pig
A bullet-shaped device made of hard rubber or similar material, often called a poly pig. This device is used to clean pipes. It is inserted into the pipe, moves through the pipe under liquid or air pressure, and is removed from the end of the pipe.
available moisture content
The quantity of water present that is available for use by vegetation.

engulfment
The surrounding and effective capture of a person by a liquid or finely divided (flowable) solid substance that can be aspirated to cause death by filling or plugging the respiratory system or that can exert enough force on the body to cause death by strangulation, constriction, or crushing.
