These training courses allow you to progress at your own pace
and to study the material when and where you prefer. The computer
answer sheets are sent to California State University,
Sacramento, for grading and remarks. The support staff at the
University is available to answer any questions you may have
regarding this program.
- Proceed through each lesson by reading through short
sections, writing answers for the questions at the end of each
section and then checking your answers.
- Write the answers to discussion and review questions at the
end of each lesson in your notebook.
- Complete the objective test at the end of each chapter on the
computer answer sheet. Send each completed answer sheet to
California State University, Sacramento, for grading and
remarks.
Beginning July 1, 2005 the following new time restrictions for
course completion went into effect:
- courses worth 0.6 to 3.0 continuing education units (CEUs)
must be completed within three (3) months of the date of
enrollment;
- courses worth 3.1 to 9.0 CEUs must be completed within six
(6) months of the date of enrollment;
- certificate program courses for academic credit must be
completed within six (6) months of enrollment.
The time to complete each course depends upon each person.
Each individual sets his or her own pace, but must establish a
regular schedule such as one or two evenings a week or on
Saturday mornings. Most students require from 50 to 150 hours of
study to complete each course.
Correspondence Courses
Nine (9) Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are earned upon
successful completion of each course with the exceptions of:
- TREATMENT OF METAL WASTESTREAMS and MANAGE FOR SUCCESS (worth
4.5 CEUs each)
- COLLECTION SYSTEMS METHODS FOR EVALUATING AND IMPROVING
PERFORMANCE (worth 3 CEUs)
- UTILITY MANAGEMENT (which is worth 2 CEUs)
Online Courses
Small Water System (702)
One and a half (1.5) Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are earned
upon successful completion of each online course of which there
are six.
Water Distribution System Operation and Maintenance
(703)
One and eight-tenths (1.8) Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are
earned upon successful completion of each online course of which
there are three.
Stormwater BMP Courses (614)
Two (2) Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are earned upon
successful completion of each online course.
Video Courses
There are four Video Courses available:
- SMALL WATER SYSTEMS VIDEO INFORMATION SERIES (worth 3
CEUs)
- WATER SYSTEMS OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE VIDEO TRAINING SERIES
(worth 3 CEUs)
- COLLECTION SYSTEMS OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE TRAINING VIDEOS

- PRETREATMENT FACILITY INSPECTION TRAINING VIDEOS (worth 0.6
CEUs)
CEUs can be used to meet educational or work experience
requirements applying for licensing exams, maintaining a license,
employment, and/or promotion.

Upon successful completion of each course you will receive a
Certificate of Completion from California State University,
Sacramento.

Answer:
The G.I. Bill can only be used to pay for the Water Treatment
Plant Operation Specialist Certificate Program courses. There are
3 of these courses, Water Treatment Plant Operation Vol 1 (CE
28A), Water Treatment Plant Operation Vol 2 (CE 28B), and Small
Water System Operation and Maintenance (CE 29). They are
Sacramento State University academic courses, and registration is
handled through the
Sacramento State University College of Continuing Education.
At this point, the G.I. Bill cannot
be used for any other OWP course offerings.
