Following completion of Chapter 6, students should be able to:

2. Disinfect pumps, mains, and storage facilities.
3. Calculate chlorine dosage.
4. Determine hypochlorinator and chlorinator settings.
5. Operate and maintain hypochlorinators.
6. Operate and maintain chlorinators.
7. Troubleshoot chlorination systems.
8. Conduct a chlorine safety program.

The main purpose of this chapter is to make operators aware of the importance of disinfecting water supply facilities and water. The chapter provides operators with the procedures for disinfecting facilities.
