10. Plant Operation Objectives

Following completion of Chapter 10, students should be able to:

  1. Monitor and control water treatment processes.
  2. Safely operate and maintain a water treatment plant.

Chapter 10 will help students accomplish these objectives by instructing them how to:

  1. Regulate flows.
  2. Apply chemicals and adjust dosages.
  3. Prepare operating reports and records.
  4. Maintain equipment and facilities.
  5. Develop daily operating procedures for their plant.
  6. Respond to emergency conditions.
  7. Handle consumer complaints.
  8. Implement energy conservation measures.

The main purpose of this chapter is to teach operators how to safely operate and maintain water treatment plants.
